For over four decades, Gama Aviation has provided Design and Production services to the aviation industry.
We have built a reputation for our extensive range of expertise as well as our strong commitment to safety, integrity, and innovation.
The current Design Organisation Approval (DOA) is based at Bournemouth, UK, and is a business unit within Gama Aviation (Engineering) Ltd (GAEL), registered at Farnborough UK. GAEL is part of Gama Aviation PLC, a global business aviation services organisation, founded in 1983.
1983
Gama Aviation was founded in 1983 by Marwan Khalek and Stephen Wright operating from Fairoaks Airport, Surrey UK. The company was started on the simple principle of delivering its clients’ missions with dedication & passion, Gama Aviation is a trusted, global partner to those who use aviation as a platform to perform.
2001
Gama Support Services Ltd (GSSL) was created in 2001 to provide Part 145 maintenance and Part 21 design services under approval number EASA.21J.157.
2008
Gama Aviation acquired Lees Avionics Ltd in 2008. Lees Avionics Ltd commenced operation in 1991 as a partnership, was incorporated in 1999 and was based at Wycombe Air Park since 1997. The company had CAA design approval, and subsequently EASA design approval EASA.21J.174.
In 2008, the company was acquired by Gama Holdings Ltd and the Design Office was relocated to Farnborough, UK.
2009
During 2009, Lees Avionics and GSSL decided to merge their design approvals; both approvals were combined into the Lees Avionics DOA approval EASA.21J.174. The GSSL approval EASA.21J.157 was then surrendered to EASA.
2011
Gama Aviation acquired Mann Aviation Group (Engineering) Ltd (MAGE) in 2011.
MAGE was formed on the 1st of November 2000 culminating from the merger of its business subsidiary companies initially founded in 1968; Mann Aviation Ltd, Mann Avionics Ltd, and Alan Mann Helicopters Ltd (Engineering division).
Later that year Gama Engineering Ltd (GEL) was formed by merging MAGE into the Lees Avionics design approval EASA.21J.174, providing an engineering facility to support aircraft owners, operators and maintenance organisations through design and installation services. The MAGE design approval EASA.21J.101 was surrendered to EASA.
2014
As part of a Gama Aviation Group restructure, the design approval EASA.21J.174 is transferred from Gama Engineering Ltd (GEL) to Gama Aviation (Engineering) Ltd (GAEL).
2020
As a result of Brexit, post 31st December 2020, GAEL no longer possesses an EASA 21J Design Organisation Approval due to the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union. As a result of this GAEL transferred its EASA 21J approval to the UK CAA and now holds a UK 21J Design Organisation Approval, UK.21J.0174.
2024
Gama Aviation acquired the trade and assets of Specialist Aviation Services Ltd in January 2024. The former Specialist Aviation site based at Gloucestershire Airport, Staverton has been retained and existing design & production data transferred to Gama Aviation (Engineering) Ltd.

We possess a full suite of aerospace design and production approvals allowing us to work with civil, state and military aircraft. We are regulated by the UK Civil Aviation Authority and Military Aviation Authority and also possess BSI 9001:2015 approval.
