A Part 21J Design Organisation Approval (DOA) is issued when the organisation demonstrates that it complies with Part 21 Subpart J and the other Subparts applicable to the scope of the DOA. This approval is required for organisations wishing to design and approve/seek approval for ‘Part 21’ products (aircraft, engine, propeller) or changes (modifications) or repairs to those products.

As a Part 21J DOA Gama Aviation is able to independently classify changes as minor or major and produce minor changes and repairs independently using our own team of highly skilled design engineers.

Having this capability in-house means we can turn around and certify new modifications and repairs in as little as a few days.

A Part 21G, also known as Production Organisation Approval (POA), is a regulatory framework that governs the production of aircraft components and systems. It defines the requirements and procedures that a company must adhere to in order to obtain approval as a production organisation. Part 21G ensures that manufacturers comply with stringent quality standards, manufacturing processes, and documentation practices to ensure the airworthiness and safety of aircraft and their components. This approval is essential for organisations involved in the production, assembly, or modification of aircraft parts.

The BCAR A8-21 Production Organisation Approval is an equivalent to the Part 21G POA. It is required for applicants wishing to produce parts for ‘Non-Part 21’ (or National) products (aircraft, engine, propeller). Examples of ‘Non-Part 21’ aircraft include vintage aircraft, ex-military aircraft, replicas and aircraft operated by or on behalf of the state such as police, firefighting or search & rescue.

The Military Aviation Authority (MAA) Design Approved Organization Scheme (DAOS) is a mechanism by which the competence of a Design Organization (DO) can be assessed. Approval under DAOS is subject to adherence with established procedures and rules governing the responsibilities and privileges for producing modifications and repairs applicable to military aircraft.
